HUNTER, Joy Lyell- passed away peacefully on Sunday, the 7th of April 2013, at the age of 85. Mrs. Hunter is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years William Edward (Ed) Hunter, parents Eva F. and Fred L. Lyell Sr. She is survived by her brother, Fred L. Lyell, Jr.; sister-in-law, Frances Hunter Dillon; nieces and nephews, Susan Lyell Young, Cassandra D. Estes (Robert), Joseph G. Dillon Jr. (Pamela), Jeanette D. Hamlington, (Gary), William Edward Dillon (Pamela), Richard Hunter (Debra) and many great nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hunter was a native Nashvillian and graduated from Peabody Demonstration School. She also earned a Bachelor’s and 2 Masters Degrees at Peabody College. She was a former school teacher and librarian in the Metro Public School System for 47 years. She was constantly recognized by former students who remembered what a kind and supportive teacher, and, later, friend she’d been to them. Her family will never forget her kind, generous and loving heart. Mrs. Hunter was also a long time member of Covenant Presbyterian Church. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four until six o’clock in the evening on Tuesday, 9th of April at Marshall-Donnelly-Combs Funeral Home. A Graveside service will be held at ten-thirty on Wednesday, the 10th of April, at Woodlawn Memorial Park with Pastor Jim Bachmann officiating. In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions in Mrs. Hunter’s name may be directed to Covenant Presbyterian Church, 33 Burton Hills Blvd, Nashville, TN 37215.
