Parker, born in Edenton, North Carolina, moved to Nashville in her mid-20s to pursue a career in cosmetology. After several years operating a salon on Music Row, she shut her doors to work as a hairstylist for Dolly Parton. During her decades-long tenure with Ms. Parton, Parker worked jobs ranging from personal assistant to property manager to tour coordinator. Outside of work she was a travel enthusiast, scuba diver, and pianist that loved her friends and family dearly.
Parker was predeceased by her father, King George Byrum. She is survived by her mother, Hazel Byrum, and sister, Hazelene Byrum, both of Tyner, NC; Her son James Hare (Roxana); Her son Chris Hare; her son Quinton Parker (Katie); and her five granddaughters: Evelyn Hare, Lillian Hare, Camilla Hare, Mariam Hare, and Blakelyn Hare, all of Nashville.
Visitation will be held Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home from 3pm-7pm. A memorial service will follow Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 1pm Happy Home Church in Tyner, NC.
