Born in Town Creek, Alabama to the late Otis and Larcenia Scruggs, Hydinia is also preceded in death by her husband, daughter (Sarah Johnson), granddaughter (Tammy King), and brother (Mack Scruggs). She leaves behind two grandsons Richard King and Robert "Johnny" Johnson; granddaughter-in-law Raenicha Johnson; six great-grandchildren Jeffrey Foster, Mariah Tardiff (Aaron), Robert Johnson Jr., Hannah Rouleau, Cossandra Johnson, Virtue McAllister-King; four great-great grandchildren; precious ones she called her own, Richard "PeeWee" Murphy, Jr. (Candy), Clarence Bass, Shelia Fryerson and a host of nieces, nephews, other beloved extended family and dear friends.
Hydinia served as a cook for the TN Department of Correction for 35 plus years and she never missed a day of work. She was a faithful member of Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, where she served on the Pastor's aide committee. Always a helpful hand in someone's time of need, Hydinia faithfully made donations to several charities and she was a maternal presence in her neighborhood.
A visitation for Hydinia will be held Friday, February 23, 2024 from 10am to 11am, with a funeral service to begin at 11am, all at Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1401 Lischey Ave, Nashville, TN.
Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN.
