Hilda was born on July 24, 1926 in Naylor, GA, the daughter of John Wesley and Aline Mae Carter Morgan. She married Joseph M. Howard, III on September 1, 1946 in Waycross, GA, and he precedes her in death.
Also preceding her in death are her parents; and one son, Michael Howard IV.
Surviving is a daughter, Allene Howard Newton; son, Jonathan Carter Howard; grandchildren, Carrington Carter (Michele) Newton, Elizabeth Morgan Newton, Ashley (Aiden Rose) Sullivan; and Miriam Sullivan; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Hilda was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and storyteller. She was a room mother to many, and she was a Cub Scout Leader and Girl Scout Leader. She enjoyed painting and needle crafting.
A member of many clubs and organizations, Hilda was active throughout her life. She was a 50 year member of the Discussion Group Nashville, and a longtime member of the Carolyn Fuqua Ladies Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church in Hopkinsville, KY. She was a member of the Colonel John Green DAR Chapter, a member of the Readers Guild, the Homemakers, Friends of the Library, and La Petit Fleur Garden Club all in Hopkinsville.
Hilda was deeply loved, and will be greatly missed.
A private graveside service was held, and burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.
