Gregory Blake Hunt

Greg, 51, was born in Nashville. He attended Father Ryan High School and received his Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in English, Chemistry and Nursing at Tennessee Technological University in 1987. During his time at Tennessee Tech, Greg was a student study group instructor and tutor for Physics, Mathematics, Pharmacology, Anatomy, and Physiology.

He was employed by Vanderbilt University Medical Center for 28 years. The first 10 years Greg worked as Laboratory Director for the Lions Eye Bank of Middle Tennessee in connection with the Vanderbilt Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. He then worked as a Clinical Research Manager for the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center Clinical Trials Office for 12 years. Lastly, Greg worked at the Vanderbilt University School of Nursing as Research Coordinator and Project Director. Greg held many certifications and memberships with scientific and medical societies and associations. Over the years, Greg’s work at Vanderbilt University Medical Center contributed to several medical journal publications.

Greg was an accomplished musician and performed with a number of groups around the Nashville area. Greg’s friends know him for his encyclopedic mind and his retention of information on many diverse subjects. In his spare time, Greg worked with advanced students as a tutor. Greg’s energy, enthusiasm, and willingness to help will be deeply missed by the wide range of people that were fortunate to have known him.

He is survived by his two children, Taylor Jeffrey Hunt and Kayla Diane Hunt, his longtime partner, Kimberly Scott, his mother Carolyn Hunt-Birmingham, and his father, Joe Hunt.

Visitation will be held at six o’ clock in the evening until eight on Friday, February 20, 2015 and again from eleven o’ clock in the morning until one on Saturday, February 21, 2015 with service to follow at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
