Georgia was a 1945 graduate of West End High School in Nashville, showing her school spirit as a cheerleader and as a proud member of the Alumni Association.
She worked many years for the State of TN at the Legislature and the Depts. Of Revenue and Conservation. She enjoyed the whirlwind of politics and was an energetic supporter of the TN Democratic Party.
She shared her knowledge and great love of history as a docent at Traveller’s Rest Plantation & Museum. She and her sisters researched and recorded the family history, tracing the Ozburns and McArthurs back to 18th century Scotland. After her sisters’ deaths, “Aunt Georgia” kept the family history and traditions, the wisdom of the Old Folks, and the unbreakable bonds of family, alive in the hearts of all the cousins.
Georgia passed her love of reading to all her family. She appreciated the wonder and beauty of God’s green earth and “all creatures great and small” who dwell in it. Georgia was a true Southern Lady who will be remembered for her beauty inside and out, her joyous spirit, her loving kindness, her wit, her loyal friendship, and her devotion to God, family, and Country.
