Funeral services will be Monday, October 7, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn- Roesch- Patton Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Lane Nashville, Tennessee. A gathering of family and friends will be held Monday, October 7, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. until the service hour at the funeral home.
Fonda or "Honey" as she was affectionately known, was born in Mount Olive, Alabama, daughter of the late Minnie Elizabeth Minor and Edward Fenton Minor. Fonda was married for 50 years to "Bubber" Johnson and lived the majority of her life in the Nashville/ Brentwood/Franklin area. As Bubber’s wife, her life was surrounded by golf. She learned the love of the game and was a supportive player at Bluegrass CC,Belle Meade CC, Disney World Golf and Temple Hills CC. Fonda loved God and her family. She was defined by her faith and was a member for decades at Belmont Heights Baptist Church, later Forrest Hills Baptist Church and finally Clearview Baptist Church. Fonda worked for Tennessee Baptist Convention in Brentwood. It was a job she loved for many years…the mission and the people.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband: Eldridge "Bubber" Johnson and her siblings: Bob Minor, Norman Minor, Tima Bagby, Ed Minor, Charles Minor, Bill Minor, Betty Gillespie.
Survivors include her children: Don (Jeannie) Johnson, Dianne (Ricky Jenkins) Garnett, and Lois Stone. Her grandchildren: Kipling Garnett, Laura Johnson, Errine Florita, Gordon Johnson, Glory Smith, and Connor Stone. Great grandchildren: Mara Hill, Bohdi Florita, Beckett Stone, and Mia Florita.
