Eugenia Allen Kennedy Rose, was preceded in death by her husband Duke Jack Rose, Sr, brother Thomas P Kennedy, III, and her parents Attie Vernon Jarman Chalfant and Thomas Peters Kennedy, Jr. Born in Nashville on June 21, 1928, Gene Allen graduated from Ward Belmont and attended Sweet Briar College where she met Annapolis graduate Duke Rose. They made their life together in Nashville. Mrs. Rose’s activities included community engagement as the President of the Junior League of Nashville, the Board of American Red Cross, Chairperson of the Palm Sunday Paper Drive, a Trustee of Ensworth School, the Board of Dede Wallace Center, a member of the Centennial Club and Belle Meade Country Club, plus involvement in countless other community groups. She was an avid reader, excellent bridge player, devoted bible student, gardener, and golfer. She is survived by their children Russell A. Rose (Durham NC), Duke (Gay) J Rose, Jr. (Burnsville NC), Attie Vernon Rose (Nashville), and Thomas Allen (Karen) Rose (Brentwood). Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren include Barrett M. Rose, Duke J (Laura) Rose, III; K. Coe (Jonathan) Heard plus Anne Barrett Rose, Grady Rose, and Wyatt Heard. She is survived by her extended family Peter Kennedy, Peggy Kennedy Brown, and Argie Chalfant Oman.
Visitation will be at the Westminster Presbyterian Church parlor on Thursday, December 15th, 10 am-12 pm. All are welcome to join family and friends at the graveside services at Mt. Olivet on Thursday, December 15th, at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, please give to your charity of choice
