Dorothy Jean Nabors (Dot), passed away peacefully August 27, 2019 at her residence at Dominion Senior Living in Crossville, TN. She was born February 27, 1929 in Nashville, TN, the daughter of the late Steve and Ida Belle Hooper of West Nashville. She graduated from Cohn High School in 1947, and later earned her LPN nursing license and worked at Baptist Health in Nashville and Donelson Hospital. She spent the last 20 years of her career working for Dr. Hurt and Dr. Birdwell in Donelson, TN.
Dot dedicated her life to serving others in her community and loved being a nurse. She was full of compassion, kindness, and had a heart full of love. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was married to her beloved husband, Dan, for 69 years, and he precedes her in death.
Dan and Dot made their home in Donelson, TN where they raised their four children. Upon retirement, they built a new home in Mt. Juliet, TN, and they were active members of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ. In 2016, they moved to Crossville, TN.
Dot loved traveling with her husband. Some of their destinations included Spain, Germany, England, and Hawaii. She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards with friends, and learning new hobbies like learning to play the dulcimer. In recent years, Dot had participated in a painting class and produced about a dozen paintings on canvas.
Dot is survived by her three children, Cindy Nabors Phillips and her husband, John of Crossville, TN, Dick Alan Nabors and his wife, Lisa of Herndon, VA, and Gary Nabors and Zunilda Conforte of Miami, FL. Her daughter, Sharron Brown predeceased her in 2015, leaving her son-in-law, Elliott Brown of Hermitage, TN. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Dominion Senior Living of Crossville for all of the overwhelming care, love, and support they gave to our mother. Thank you to the Caris Health Care staff for helping us through a very difficult time, and thank you to members of Mt. Juliet Church of Christ who continued to pray and send cards of inspiration. She was blessed with so much love and was truly God’s gift to her family and those who knew her.
