Born and raised in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Pete and Ruth Hess, Donna was a 1962 graduate of Central High School. Soon after, she married her teenage sweetheart, Richard Magner, with whom she had three children. Donna and Richard subsequently lived on the west coast in California before eventually settling into the Nashville area in 1980. Donna worked many years as a Quality Control Technician for GAF Materials. After retirement, Donna worked part time as a cashier. Donna had an immense love for all animals, loved music, classic cars, and Elvis. She was always her happiest when spending time with her family. Donna was a wonderful woman who will be dearly missed by her loving family, friends and all who knew her.
She is preceded in death by daughter Tina Renee Magner-McCarty and her parents Pete and Ruth. She is survived by her husband Richard; son Mark C. Magner and daughter Wendy Magner; as well as “adopted” daughters Cara Whittaker Bobinger and Robin Pressly Ferguson.
There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends for Donna on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St John's Lutheran Church, 3259 McGavock Pk., Nashville, TN 37214, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to any deserving animal rescue organization of your choice or St John's Lutheran Church.
