age 94, passed away May 30, 2018. Clarence was born June 19, 1923 in Nashville, TN. The son of Clarence Suiter Sr. and Effie Barbee Suiter. Preceded in death by wife Jane Clark Suiter and brother Hector Rogers Suiter, sisters Mary Evelyn Jackson (John), Elizabeth Reynolds (Joe), Virginia Lois McLaurine (Paul), Joe Ann Scott (Cooper). He leaves daughters Deborah Suiter Gentry(Larry), Cindy Suiter Bond (Alan), Tracy Lynn Suiter. Grandchildren Amy Gentry, David (Jennifer) Gentry, Daniel Gentry (Naomi), Katherine Gentry, Bonnie Lee Helgesen (Lars), David Wells, Mark Bond (Jolie). Loved by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Suiter attended West End High School. A graduate of LSU School of Banking. He served in the US Army during World War II and Air Force during the Korean War. Longtime member of the US Airforce Reserve and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
Married Jane Clark in 1947. Started work at Third National Bank in 1952. Retired from Suntrust as Senior Vice President in 1984. He went on to serve as President and CEO of Volunteer State Bank and retired from there in 1990. Suiter served on the Atlanta Federal Reserve Board’s Financial Institutions advisory committee.
Member of John B Garrett Lodge #711 for over 60 years, and a 32 KCCH degree Scottish Rite. A member of Al Menah Shriners for over 50 years, he was known as Purples the Clown. Suiter was well known for his affection of ole “Blue Eyes” music and golf. He was a member of Bluegrass and Richland Country Club. He traveled to all 7 continents and visited over 100 countries.
