Carrie Banks Teaford

Carrie was born in Louisville, Ky., in 1969. She graduated from the youth performing arts high school in only three years, and played violin in the Louisville Youth Orchestra. She studied humanities at the University of Louisville, graduating in 1989. Carrie continued her education in the philosophy department at Temple University, and continued her violin playing into adulthood with the Belmont and Trevecca Orchestras in Nashville.

Carrie began her career in health care as a temporary employee with Metropolitan Life. In the 1990s she moved to the Saint Thomas Health family with Baptist – Saint Thomas Health Associates, then served at Baptist Hospital in decision support, and later as manager of surgery, vice president of finance, chief financial officer of Baptist Hospital, and most recently, as the chief operating officer of Saint Thomas Midtown and Saint Thomas West Hospitals.

Carrie loved to serve others. Despite being responsible for financial strategy, her favorite time of year was when Saint Thomas provided free care to underserved members of the Nashville community through Medical Missions at Home. She served her industry and community with the Healthcare Financial Management Association, Middle Tennessee Healthcare Executives Association, and the Nashville Health Care Council's Leadership Health Care Council. Carrie was a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity, supporter of both opera and symphony, and attended Christ Church Cathedral in Nashville.

Carrie was preceded in death by her father, Hugh Frederick Banks. She is survived by her husband of 25 years, Jeremy Teaford; her son, Bruce Banks Teaford; her mother, Diane Banks; and her sisters, Gaia, Amanda, Hosanna, and Clare. Carrie enjoyed losing nerf battles to her six nieces and nephews: Gabriel and Trillium Rice, Meghan Mantz, Maeve and August Reichert, and Lily Dasinger. She and Jeremy had been learning to sail in the past few years, and recently returned from memorable sailing excursions in the Florida Keys and the Virgin Islands.
