Billy Beech Potts, age 94, of Gallatin, Tennessee and formerly of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee on March 17, 1928 to the late, Thomas Reed Potts and Lillie Mai Turman Potts. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Bell Potts and brother, Thomas Edward Potts.
Billy is survived by his children, David (Pam) Potts of Ellijay, Georgia and daughter, Annette (Tommy) Fisher of Austin, Kentucky, grandchildren, Melissa (Eric) Kappler, Glasgow, Kentucky, Matthew (Rebecca) Fisher of St. Joseph, Michigan, Michelle (Matt) Luongo of Austin, Kentucky, Jennifer (TJ) Farrell of Jacksonville, Florida and Connor Potts of Ellijay, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Benjamin, Lucas, Heath, Lillian, Shelby, Grayson and Lilyana; sister, Betty Wright and several nieces and nephews.
Billy was a graduate of Central High School, afterwards he served in the United States Navy, during World War II. After returning home, he attended David Lipscomb and then transferred to Howard College where he obtained his Doctor of Science in Pharmacy. Billy married the love of life, Lillian Bell Batey in 1952 and moved to McMinnville, Tennessee. He returned to Nashville and worked for Wilson Quik Drugs. Billy owned and operated his drug store in Hermitage, Tennessee and expanded into Mount Juliet, Tennessee. Billy loved spending time and making memories with his children and grandchildren. His greatest love outside of his family was fishing. Billy and his best friend, Dr. Jim Brakefield, had a routine fishing appointment every Thursday, for over fifty years.
A gathering of family and friends for Billy will be held Wednesday, December 14, 2022 from eleven o'clock in the morning until one o'clock in the afternoon at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home Following the gathering of family and friends will be a graveside service at one o'clock at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204.
