Ann is preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Richard Piero, her husband, Michael, and her sons Michael Anthony Jr and Gregory Scott. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Altenbern (Perrone, Phillip), her son, Brian Perrone (Jennifer), and her many beloved grandchildren.
Ann was born in Canton, Ohio on October 17, 1933 to Conrad and June Piero, where she went on to graduate from Timken Senior High School in 1951. Ann studied at Westminster Choir College and later worked at Prudential Insurance Company before her marriage to Dr. Michael A Perrone (d. September 14, 2015). Ann and Michael led a happy life in Tennessee where they welcomed four children and 13 grandchildren over 57 years of marriage.
Ann, “Nunny” to her grandchildren, was an amazing cook, a prolific reader, a passionate gardener, and a big football fan. Ann never missed a chance to watch her Tennessee Titans or the Fighting Irish dominate on the field. Ann was known for her commitment to her family, and her two-year winning streak of the “Tired Catholic Award.” Though some folks might not treasure this title, Ann cheerily accepted her award on account of her perseverance in faith and giving.
To her grandchildren, Nunny never failed to make holidays and birthdays special with her impressive assortment of coconut cakes, bourbon candies, and savory soups. When she wasn’t creating new recipes, she could be found nurturing her flourishing garden. Ann excelled at growing and arranging flowers. Her efforts paid-off as a member of the Colonna Club where Ann served as a judge of many Floral Arrangement and Design competitions, even winning a few prized ribbons herself. Ann found fellowship and joy in her gardening club where her many friends would describe her as generous, kind, patient and fun to be with. She will be dearly missed.
Ann’s life and legacy will be celebrated in a private ceremony. Contributions can be made in her loving memory to the Rally Foundation for Childhood Cancer Research.
