Ron was my uncle. I was 16 when my father passed and from that point on Ron treat me like a little brother. I remember watching a Vanderbilt basketball game and telling him that I thought it was cool to be usher. 2 days later I had a yellow jacket and I was a Vanderbilt usher. Ron was a person that got things done. We went to many ball games and golf tournaments together. Ron was a great uncle and good friend. He did not know a stranger and he had a great personality. I worked at Legends Club and Ron was always volunteering for events that we hosted at the club.  I became friends with him and through the years some of us got together often to have lunch and  catch up.   He always added great fun to our conversations and I will miss those times dearly.  Loved him and hope to see him again some day.  Miss you, Angela

Ron will be missed by all who knew him.  We shared a love for Vanderbilt and all sports there, and had many conversations about the games.  I was Blessed to have known Ron and will keep Sandra and Ron’s family in my prayers.

Ron volunteered with me starting at the Sara Lee Classic LPGA golf tournament at The Hermitage Golf Course (1988) through The Electrolux golf tournament at The Legends Golf Course in Franklin . He was always willing to do anything asked of him, including starting the coffee each morning at 5AM!  The volunteers loved him, he was always quick to say "Yes" to any job. We continued to volunteer for many years at other golf events including the Mason Rudolph college men & women's  teams at the Legends Club.  He was so funny &  quick witted  I will miss him....

We've loved Ron since the first time we met him at Una Church of Christ and the years we spent in the Bible study group with he and Sandra. Ron would do anything to help anybody. Of course, there were a few times when I wanted to pinch his head off! But those times were few and far between. Ron loved to have fun. We will miss you Ron. We will see you again. We love you.

Uncle Ronnie was such a wonderful man, always greeted myself, by sister and brother with warmth and a smile. We loved visiting him on holidays and seeing him at Vandy basketball and football games. He will be missed. My love and prayers to Sandra and all his children. 

Ron was truly one in a million and so loved by us. We will miss him at church, the phone calls, dinners, and dropping by the house. It was always a pleasant adventure eating out or having Ron and Sandra over for dinner. He always kept things lively and so much fun. Ron was a good Christian man who loved helping and doing for others. We only wish we could have enjoyed his friendship longer. I'm sure Ron will be looking down from above trying to hug Connie and aggravate me. Ron, we only wish we had more time with you. We love you deeply and miss you more.  In Christian Love.

Ish and I send our deepest sympathy to Ron's family.  Ron was a member of our Gallatin High School graduating class of 1956. He lit up the room when he walked in. I do not think he missed any class reunions. He was beloved by all of us. What an interesting life he led and gave so much of himself to others. May he rest in peace.


My father took so much history with him when he died. Our Swedish history: his grandmother, grandfather, father and uncle (twins) came over on a boat in 1911 from Sweden, immigrated through Ellis Island landing in Chicago; our Chicago history where Dad was born (his father played for the Chicago Bears, sang for the Chicago Symphony, and a trainer for the Chicago White Socks); our South Tunnel history where my father grew up on a farm, where his parents owned a grocery store, and where he first attended the South Tunnel Church of Christ. After high school he went in the Army, was stationed in Reykjavík, Iceland and sang in the Army quartet; then back to Tennessee, attended Lipscomb University; then a move to Miami to work for Seaboard, later Amtrak; I was then born in Miami. After 17 years in Miami he went back to Nashville, married his beautiful, sweet wife Sandra and along came  grand and great grandchildren. So many generations, all things we shared, loved, and held dear. My father’s death itself is not the only loss I’m mourning. The inside jokes, the popular songs and hymns we sang together, the laughter, the sorrows we shared, the past we worked to heal. My father was a jokester, a prankster, and loved to laugh. I find myself listening to his voicemails to me the same way I listen to a favorite song. That smile in his voice, the way he teased me, and the way he said, “THIS IS YOUR FATHER SPEAKING“ in his booming voice (as if I didn’t know it was him). Behind that gruff exterior was a kind, loving, humble, Christian man. I’m regenerating him the only way I can; I’m writing my half of a dialogue I know he would share with me if he could. I will forever mourn my father’s passing but he lived a full life; he loved and was loved and I’m so thankful he had Sandra by his side. What a great man with a youthful attitude.  I understand he just recently traded his sports car!  He was always kind and gracious.
He will be missed.

Ron was always there for Wednesday night dinners at Una, ready to give his honest opinions about what was on the menu. He always made me and my mom, Michele, crack up with his food reviews. 
He will be missed by so many. I know he is enjoying the beauty of heaven right now. Praying for comfort, peace and love for his family. May GOD wrap you all in his loving embrace.

I will always have fond memories of the days spent hanging out with Ron each year at the Vinny golf tournament. He was great to be around, talk to and play golf with. God Bless you and your family. You will be missed.

Sandra, Betty and I have reminisced several times over the last couple of days about "Ron memories."  There were so many things to love about him.  We loved the times we got to work with him at Second Harvest.  He would act like he was grumpy and yet have everyone laughing. 
One of the words that comes to mind about Ron is dedication.  He would literally get out of his sick bed to come and help at Second Harvest or support other church works. He did not allow the frailties of health to slow him down.  We also think of his dedication to a study of the word.  He was always ready to open The Book and consider God's words for us.
We miss him and will miss seeing him in those times we come back for a visit.  We will continue to lift you up in prayer.  We love you and Ron and look forward to seeing him again and laughing together.   Bill & Betty Eads

My family and I, are going to miss Ron so much. He'd always come early on the wednesday night meals, and sit with us. He always tried to pronounce "pupusas", but he always came up with a made up word, that made us laughed. We lost a dear brother and friend; but now he rests, waiting to be risen in Glory. Can't wait to see Ron again! He'd probably have some new made up words, he wants to tell us.

Will really miss Ron. I am so glad I got a chance to know him and attend Church with him. So sorry for your loss. I pray that God bless you in your time of grief. May God grant you the peace and comfort that only God can give. 

Walter and I will always cherish both our friendship and fellowship at church with Ron Carlson. We absolutely will miss his crazy laugh, argumentative teasing, and bump in the arm hugs. What fun we had participating in his 2020 drive by birthday party and throwing him a gag gift of used toilet paper, sanitizer, and mask! Ron looked completely shocked as he ran into the street with his baggy sleep attire and uncombed hair. He enjoyed every minute of horns honking, onlooking neighbors, and people shouting “Happy Birthday” from their car windows!  I will especially treasure the final exchange of words over the phone a few days before his passing as he ended the call by saying “he  loved me” and for me to .....“be sure to tell Walter I love him!That hubby of yours is one of my favorites.”  We are sadly going to miss this unique and one of a kind special man. We express our heartfelt sympathy to his loyal and devoted wife, and our sweet friend, Sandra. Prayers for comfort to all Ron’s family and friends.
