Robert Dale Shipley

Robert Dale Shipley, age 89, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Louisville, Kentucky. Born May 26, 1930 in Brown County, Indiana, he was the son of Grover and Flossie (Hawkins) Shipley. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then served as an Army reservist for many years before joining the U.S. Air Force Reserves, retiring in 1984. Robert was a former member of the V.F.W., Eagles Lodge, and Moose Lodge in Columbus, Indiana. He was a self-employed handyman.
Robert is survived by his three sons: Greg (Lesley) Shipley, of Hendersonville, N.C., Damon Shipley, of Muncie, IN and Arron Shipley, of Findley, Ohio, one daughter, Tonya (Steve) Nealy, of Georgetown, IN, one brother, Don Shipley, of Columbus, Indiana, ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sharon Lee (Gilliland) Shipley in 2017, seven brothers and six sisters.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Little Sisters of the Poor in Louisville for their compassion, love and care of their father and to them during this difficult time.
Funeral services will be private on Saturday, March 21 at the Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville, Indiana. Burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery where the Brown County Honor Guard will provide military graveside rites.
