Donald Wayne Moore

Donald W. Moore, 77, died on Saturday September 28, 2024. He was born May 24, 1947 at Ft. Lewis Military base in Washington State to Lewis Jack Moore and Clara Elizabeth (Price) Moore. Donald and his family lived in many military bases in the United States and Newfoundland.

Donald graduated from Prattville, Alabama high school in 1965. Then enlisted in the Air Force, stationed at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi. After the Air Force, he attended Southern Mississippi University graduating with a degree in Polymer Science. Hired by Texaco Houston after college graduation, he then worked at Baker-Hughes and other petroleum service companies in Houston, Texas.

At neighborhood meeting in April 1985 at Moore Elementary School in Houston he met Marcia not knowing she was his wife to be. Donald and Marcia married March 1986 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.

Donald’s greatest joy was being with Marcia, their cats and his special buddy cat Salem. Together, Donald and Marcia enjoyed hiking at western National Parks. Donald and Marcia had a wonderful 37 years together.

After retirement in 1999, Donald and Marcia moved from Houston, Texas to Nashville, Indiana which was close to Indiana University where Marcia could meet with her college faculty. They attended St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville where Donald was Sacristan and part-time custodian.

A funeral mass for Donald will be held at St. Agnes on Wednesday, October 16th at 11:00am. Following will be a luncheon downstairs in the church.

Donald has been cremated and will be buried at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana. Marcia will also be buried at Cedar Grove.
