It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Ronald A. Benius, 84, loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be sorely missed by many. Ronald passed away on February 1 at Bridges by EPOCH Memory Care Assisted Living in Nashua, NH after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Ronald was born in Lithuania and moved to the United States with his parents, Theresa and Anthony when he was ten years old. He lived in Danvers, MA and met his wife, Rita (Lawler) in Lowell, MA. The two married in 1967 and resided briefly in Seattle, WA and Hartford CT, then in Lawrence, MA, Hudson, NH, Portsmouth, NH, Hollis, NH, and finally Nashua, NH.
Ronald graduated from Boston University with a Bachelor of Science degree and he had a long-spanning career as a mechanical engineer for such companies as Boeing Aircraft and Lockheed Martin. After retiring he worked part time as a school bus driver for about ten years.
Throughout his life, Ronald was an avid golf player, playing with various teams and winning several trophies through the years, but what he loved more than anything in the world was spending time with his family - often traveling to the beach, taking the family camper to Maine and Rhode Island, going on numerous road trips, and just enjoying time together. His family has nothing but fond memories of him that they will cherish forever.
Ronald leaves behind his beloved wife Rita Benius and his daughters Angela Orenstein of Burlington MA and Melinda Roberge of Nashua NH, his son-in-laws Aaron Orenstein and Randolph Roberge, and his adored grandchildren, Adria Orenstein and Austin Anspaugh.
A visitation will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Tuesday, February 7 at Zis-Sweeney & St. Laurent Funeral Home located at 26 Kinsley St., Nashua NH, with a prayer service to begin at 6:30pm. A burial will be held at 9:30am on Wednesday, February 8 at Holy Cross Cemetery located at Ledge Rd, Hudson NH.
