Roger G. Roy, 91, of Nashua, NH passed away on Tuesday, November 06, 2012 at Southern NH Medical Center in Nashua. He was born in Nashua on April 30, 1921, the son of the late Joseph and Louisa (La Chance) Roy.
Roger was a lifelong Nashua resident. He was educated in Nashua at St. Francis Xavier School. He then joined the U.S. Army. After completing boot camp he was stationed at Camp Barkley in KY and Ft. Campbell in TX. He joined the 82nd Medical Battalion and was sent to fight in the European Theatre of World War II, which sent him to England, France and Germany, earning him the rank of Sergeant. Roger was a lifetime member of the 12th Armored Division Association. After is military career, Roger was employed as a Mechanic/Foreman for Public Works in Nashua for 16 years until his retirement. He also co-owned Roy’s Variety also known as “Eat Here and Get Gas”, he then worked at Indian Head Bank as a maintenance man/mechanic. He enjoyed any kind of handyman work, including carpentry. Roger greatest passion in life was his family.
He is predeceased by his wife, Theresa (Paradise) Roy in 2009.
He is survived by three sons, Robert Roy of Leominster, MA, Edward Roy and his wife Dody of Hudson, and Alan Roy and his wife Susan of IN; four daughters, Linda Roy of Hudson, Darlene Sullivan and her husband Matthew of Nashua, Louise Blake of Merrimack, and Denise Roy and her spouse Cathy Coughlin of Nashua, a sister, Loretta LeBlanc of Milford; 14 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2012 from 4PM to 8PM at St. Laurent Funeral Home, 116 Elm St., Nashua, NH 03060. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 9, 2012 at 9:30AM at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Burial will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Nashua. In lieu of flowers donation may be made in Roger’s name to PLUS Company, 19 Chestnut St., Nashua, NH 03060.
