Richard Byron Greenwood, 83, of Nashua, passed away after an aggressive bout with cancer on November 29, 2022. Born in Exeter, NH on December 21, 1938, he was the son of the late Phillip and Sarah (Burnham) Greenwood.
Dick grew up in Exeter and graduated from Exeter High School. After graduation, he served in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged. After the Navy, Dick married Betty, and spent 54 loving years together until her passing in 2015. They raised their three children in the Marie Avenue neighborhood where they made several life-long friends. Richard worked his entire career for the New England Telephone company. Until his retirement.
A golfer his entire life, Dick’s most notable golfing achievement occurred in 1986 when he made it to the quarterfinals in the State Am championship with his wife/caddie Betty by his side, reading his putts.
He is survived by his daughter Karen Greenwood of Colorado; son James Greenwood of Nashua; granddaughter Sarah Leach (Nathan) of Wilton; grandsons Ryan and Michael Greenwood; and the lights of his life great-granddaughters Emie and Gracie Leach. Richard also leaves behind extended family members and a network of close friends. He was predeceased by his wife Betty and youngest son John-O.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Nashua Country Club, and a burial service at the Exeter Cemetery. Dates and times to be determined.
