Mariette R. Roy, 74 of Nashua, NH passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 in the St. Joseph Hospital, Nashua following a lengthy illness. She was born March 16, 1939 in St.-Benoit de Labre, Quebec, Canada, a daughter of the late Adelard and Laura (Lessard) Fecteau.
In her younger years she taught Elementary through High School in small schoolhouses in Quebec, Canada. She was an extremely proud and independent woman. In 1963 she married Gaetan Roy and in 1964 she moved to Nashua. Her life revolved around her family, loving to cook and feed and take care of her family. Mrs. Roy loved her grandchildren, teaching them to cook, playing cards and going shopping with them. She also loved her trips back to Canada visiting her brothers and sisters, her trips to Foxwoods with friends and reading. She was very selfless; giving everything she had, never putting herself first.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years; Gaetan Roy of Nashua, a daughter; Kathleen Provencher and her husband Brian, Sr. of Nashua, a son; Steve Roy and his wife Monica Mejia Roy of Nashua, five grandchildren; Celine, Isabel and Gabriella Roy and Brian Provencher, Jr. and Nicole Provencher. She is also survived by two brothers; Louisda Fecteau of St.-Benoit and Bertrand Fecteau of St. Georges, Quebec, two sisters; Claudette Fecteau of St. Georges and Linda Lessard of Quebec City and a sister in law; Noella Fecteau. She was predeceased by two brothers; Laval and Viateur Fecteau and by two sisters; Sr. Madeline Fecteau and Claire Fecteau.
Visiting hours were held Friday, March 29, 2013 from 2:00pm – 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Zis-Sweeney Funeral Home, 26 Kinsley St., Nashua. A funeral service was held at 8:30am Saturday in St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W. Hollis St., Nashua. Interment followed in St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery, 752 W. Hollis St., Nashua.
