Ira “John” Bisher , 99 of Napoleon , passed away Saturday August 1, 2015 at The Orchards of Northcrest. Born on July 24, 1916 to Harry and Laura ( Barlow) Bisher in Washingtown Twp, Henry County. United in marriage on August 30, 1941 to Elizabeth Artz who preceded him in death on January 25, 1997.
Survived by son Jon A. (Kathryn) Bisher of Napoleon and sister Velma Jean(John) Hersland of Toledo. Granchilren; Andrew (Tonya) Kovich, Tod (Jodi) Bisher, Matthew(Amanda) Kovich and Mat (Gail ) Bisher, Great-Grandchildren; Justin Kovich, Ryan Kovich, Landry Bisher, Sara Kovich , Matthew Kovich and Perissa Bisher.
Preceed in death by parents, Harry and Laura Bisher, Wife Elizabeth and sister Gladys Agler.
Ira served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Corps in England during WWII.
John attended BGSU and various banker schools throughout the Tri State Area. He is a retired banker and was associated with the former Napoleon Community Bank, Tiffin Valley Bank and the former Home Savings and Loan of Napoleon. He also served as a director and past president of the former Heller Memorial Hospital of Napoleon. Ira is a former member of the Board of Directors and Chamber of Commerce of Napoleon. He served 15 years as a treasurer of the Henry County Red Cross.
He was a member of the Archbold United Methodist Church for many years and a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Napoleon. John served as a trustee and on various other boards of these churches. Ira was also a member of the friendly mixers class of St. Paul United Methodist Church of Napoleon.
John is a member of Napoleon Masonic Blue Lodge #256 FAM Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo, I.O.O.F Lodge #260 formerly of Napoleon.
Visitation for John will be on Thursday August 6 , 2015 at Walker Mortuary 333 W. Main St. Napoleon, Ohio 43614 from 3:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m . Funeral Services in honor of John will be held at Walker Mortuary on Friday August 7,2015 starting at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Natham Officiating. Burial with Military honors will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery Providence Ohio . Donations in honor of John can be made to Fairlawn Haven or the United Methodist Church in Archbold Ohio.
