Born on September 25,1936, in Manhattan, New York to Dorothy Hess (Hanley) and John Hess, Bill often stated that life was “more than he expected”. He raised a loving family, cherished magnificent friendships, and professionally succeeded at the highest level. Bill and his wife of 57 years, Louise A. Hess (Fresolone) 1937-2016, lived life to its fullest and both were committed to “one life, one love”. Bill was recognized as a true gentleman who modeled kindness, integrity, and charitable giving to make the world a better place. He was a role model to all who knew him.
Bill had many talents and hobbies. He was an accomplished polka dancer who was a finalist at the 22nd annual Harvest Moon Ball at Madison Square Gardens in 1956. Other pastimes included Racquetball, Kite Flying, and Stickball. He enjoyed collecting Autographs, Stamps, Coins, Cocktail Stirrers, and Matchbook Covers.
From 1958 – 1964 Bill served in the US Air Force which reinforced his pride as a patriot, always insisting on flying the flag everywhere he resided.
After attending City College, Hunter College, and Hofstra University, Bill earned his B.S. degree in Engineering from the University of Delaware in 1972. He completed classes towards his MBA at Penn State University, and as a lifelong learner, took classes at Northwestern Kellogg School of Management and the American Management Association.
Bill retired from the business world in 2002 as President and CEO of Senco Products. Prior to that, Bill worked at several companies as he climbed the corporate ladder including Remington Inc., Schick Inc., Black & Decker, Ronson Corporation, and Underwriters Laboratories.
Bill leaves many fond memories which are cherished by his loving son William E. Hess Jr., and his wife Deborah of Medford, NJ, as well as his loving daughter Carol Ann Hess and her partner Ronald Sharp of Spring, Texas; his Grandchildren, William E. Hess III, Jennifer E. Kostenko and her husband Zachary, Philip B. Nickels, and Alex H. Nickels; and his great grandson Dean Kostenko. Other family members surviving Bill include, Lena & Dominic Circosta, Paddy & Anita Genuso, Isabell Insogna, Bellarie McAndrews, Mary Aksel, Kitty & Hank Kastler.
