Uncle Bill had a great smile and was always quick to tell us great stories of growing up in Bayonne.  He loved to talk about all of the trouble he  used to get into at school.  He seemed to know everyone in Bayonne, and he always tried to help people out.   He was kind and generous to everyone he met.  His laughter and warmth will be missed in the Campbell clan.

I'm going to miss the conversations I had with my Uncle Billy. 
We’d talk about current events, and all, but he always enjoyed talking about old times the most.
He had some interesting experiences especially growing up old Bayonne. 
And it sometimes involved very interesting characters. Bayonne certainly had their share of them.
He also loved to talk about West 4th street and the family living there. Also never short of characters.
He’d laugh talking about my brothers and cousins when we were little kids and all the shenanigans we’d get into.
Like, how we thought cars could run on sand and he caught us pouring it into the gas tank of his new car.
I’ve met a lot of people that lived in and around Bayonne. A lot of them knew him and the Campbell Clan.
And they always, always, had nice things to say about Bill. Some would say how Bill helped them. He was that type of person.
Everyone respected him. He was a loving and devoted husband to Ellie, an officer in the Marines, and a successful bank President. 
But what I think people really like about him is that, even though, he had a larger than life presence he possessed a humble and friendly nature that was rare. 
It’s sad to see the generations go. I like to think he’s up there with my Mother, Mae, and the rest of the family and friends talking about old times.
