Jane was born January 11, 1942 in Brazil, Indiana to William “Bill” Herbert Klingler of Brazil, Indiana and Kathryn “Kay” Elizabeth Fanning Klingler of Milford, Illinois.
Jane graduated from Brazil High School where she was a cheerleader a member of the drama club. She attended Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, where she met John “Jack” Gary Suter of Decatur, Illinois. Married on September 1, 1962, Jane & Jack celebrated 60 years of marriage. They lived in Godfrey, Alton, Edwardsville, Collinsville, Decatur, and Springfield, Illinois. Jane continued studying Early Childhood Education at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Jane then directed the Westminster Cooperative Preschool at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Springfield and maintained a special connection with children across her life. After retirement, Jane and Jack moved to Naples, Florida.
Jane was creative and loved art, particularly enjoying watercolor painting. Jane was active in the Christian Women’s Association, P.E.O., and the Pi Beta Phi Alumni Association. Jane enjoyed bible study, walks with friends, and playing bridge, tennis, and bocce ball.
Jane is survived by her husband, Jack; a sister, Ann Krabach of Modesto, California; three children: Teresa (Sean) Sullivan of Kettering, Ohio, John (Lauren) Suter of Rockford, Illinois, and Beth (Todd) Trautman of Denver, Colorado. She was “Nana” to five grandchildren: Brianna (Tyler) Brailey, Corrinne (Justin) Fischer, Davis Sullivan, and Lily and Claire Trautman; and to three great-grandchildren: Harvey and Faye Brailey and the late Zavier Ray Fischer (4 months) who greeted her in heaven.
A funeral Mass for Jane will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 625 111th Ave N, Naples, Florida 34108 (see the livestream link on the service tab). Please join the family immediately following the Mass for a simple lunch and fellowship at St. John's.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Avow Hospice or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (see links below).
