Garrett, Jr. She is survived by her children, step-daughters, son-in-law, daughters-in law, and grandchildren, and great grandchildren, her big brother and sister-in-law, many nieces and nephews, and a large and loving extended family and so very many friends.
Family members include daughter Susan Rogers Miller (Warren), sons Daniel Aubrey Rogers (Tracy O’Brien), and William L. “Larry” Rogers (Debi Sonneborn Rogers); Step-daughters Judy Garrett Hunnes (Nils) and Jenny Garrett Haas; Grandchildren Mindi Righter (Jeff), Cory Garber, Jason Brawley (Cathy), Joshua Rogers, Tobynn Rogers Partridge (Bryan), Taylor Swindle (Amanda), Savannah Rogers, Sierra Rogers and Samantha Rogers; great-grandsons Neo Righter, Barrett Partridge, and great-granddaughters Aubrey Partridge and Carson Swindle. And by her life-long rock (and dancing partner), her big brother Howard Meredith and sister-in-law, Carol Meredith. Son David Malone Rogers, (who died at birth) and granddaughter, Dawn Brawley preceded her in death.
Momma was born in rural Alabama (Covington County) on May 19, 1929. She moved to Florida in 1938 during the great depression and was a “Greenie” graduating from Ft. Myers High School in 1947. She became a resident of Collier County in 1957 and lived at her home on Royal Palm Drive in Naples, once Hurricane Donna left town, for 61 years. She lived at Lely Palms Senior Living at the time of her passing.
Momma, along with Daddy and former Sheriff Doug and Margie Hendry, conceived the concept of the Collier County Junior Deputies Program one night in Doug and Margie’s kitchen back in about 1960. In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, the family knows that Momma would smile about any contributions to the Junior Deputies or any other charity of your choosing.
A celebration of Momma will occur at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2023, at the Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Avenue North, Naples, Florida. The family will welcome friends who wish to attend beginning at 6:00 p.m.
