Army Veteran and retired CEO of Bertrand Chaffee Hospital
Roger A. Ford, 73, of Rochester, NY passed away on December 30, 2016 at his home in Bonita Springs, FL.
Roger was born on September 14, 1943 to the late Kenneth and Evelyn (nee Kingston) Ford. He graduated from West High School in Rochester, NY in 1961, received his Bachelors of Education from the University of Buffalo in 1965 and then his Masters of Hospital Administration from the University of Virginia Medical College in 1969.
In 1969 he was also drafted into the Army. He was part of combat infantry in Vietnam. He was also a Peace Corp Volunteer and spent two years at a maternity center in Monrovia, Liberia.
Roger worked as the CEO of Bertrand Chaffee Hospital/Nursing Home, in Springville, NY from 1972 to 1998. He retired at the age of 55 and relocated to Dunedin, FL. He then moved to Bonita Springs, FL 12 years ago where he had spent the majority of his time spoiling his beloved grandchildren.
Roger is survived by his daughter Shawn M. Ford of Charlotte, NC and daughter, Mary Shannon Sedio, son-in-law Stephen Sedio, and twin grandchildren Shenandoah and Stephen Sedio Jr. of Naples, FL.
A wake will be held for Roger on January 28, 2017 between 2pm – 4pm. It will be a visitation with an ice cream and coffee social (two of Roger’s favorite foods) held at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens 525-111th Ave. N., Naples, FL 34108.
