He was born August 25, 1943, in Elmira, New York, the son of the late Glenn and Esther Depew. He spent the majority of his life in Davidsonville, Maryland, where he and Anne settled and raised their family. In 1977, he founded Robert G. Depew and Associates, a commercial real estate development and building management company. He loved real estate, always thinking about the possibilities of a space and how it might best be used. His business colleagues remember him as an extremely well-respected man who was known for being an honest, fair, and kind man with whom to do business.
From a young age, he loved being on and in the water and enjoyed fishing, boating, canoeing, and later spending countless hours in the pool or his boat with any grandchild who wanted to play. When he was not in the water, he was often found working on his golf game. He also loved a good game of cards - from playing with his brother Jim when he was younger to teaching and spending untold hours playing penny poker with his grandchildren (baseball with rain was a favorite).
In addition to his wife, he was much loved by his older brother Jim (Karen), his sons, Kevin (Margaret), Bryan (Sanna), and Ian (Brenna). He was also blessed with many nephews and nieces, all of whom he adored. It was his ten grandchildren - Finian, Delia, Dax, Dan, Dallas, Zachary, Asher, Opal, Ezra and Annelise - who were his pride and joy. He made sure each of them knew how much he loved and appreciated them.
His life was rich and full and happy. He was certainly most fortunate to be married to the love of his life, Anne, for 53 wonderful years. He loved his family, and his family loved him, and we will miss him dearly.
