Rita Mahoney Carr

Rita daughter of Elizabeth(McIntyre) and Jack Mahoney ,sister of Mary Prager (d 2017) wife of Emmet Kevin Carr (d 1977) and survived by sister Eileen Lane (NY) and her three children, 3 grandchildren and 8 step great grandchildren: Rita’s youngest daughter Margaret “Peggy” Thorne and her husband Jeff and their sons Austin and Kevin all of Naples, Florida; middle daughter Laura Carr and her husband Arnold “Arnie” Haake of Bonita Springs Florida; and Rita’s oldest son Kevin and his wife Deborah Lynn “Debbie” of Nutley, New Jersey. Rita took particular joy in being a grandmother, and being the great-grandmother to Laura and Arnie’s worldwide blended family: Nicholas of Bonita Springs and Washington D.C., LTC Karsten Haake, his wife Sandra and their three girls Krista, Sara and Katie all of Fort Hood Texas; Rebekka Kraft, her husband Timo and their boys Lukas and Finn, all residing in Germany; and Martin Haake, his wife Caroline and their children Annie, Bella and Henrik all of Vienna, Austria. Rita is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and wonderful friends.

Rita passed away as she wanted at home with loved ones. She travelled the world as a flight attendant, moved briefly with her husband and three children to Saudi Arabia (Kevin and Laura attended Kindergarten and First grade there while Peggy learned songs in Arabic from the local workers), she also owned and operate a wine and liquor store, to mention just some of her many adventures. She had a wonderful sense of humor and was truly a classy lady. She is and will be greatly missed.

At 4 pm on Friday the 2nd of November a memorial service will be held at Hodges Funeral Home located at 525 111th Avenue North Naples, FL 34108, a repast will be held immediately after (at Hodges Funeral Home) with food, beverages, beer and wine being served.

In Lieu of flowers, prayers are always welcomed, or a donation to a charity of your choice in Rita’s memory would also be appreciated. We must share that Joanne’s Hospice of Bonita Springs 27200 Imperial Pwkway, Bonita Springs, FL 34135. Everyone from Hope Hospice was amazing--supportive, professional, timely, and loving.
