Richard Anthony Adams, 86, of Naples, FL, died on Wednesday, November 23, 2011. He was born to Stanley and Mary Adams of Menasha, Wisconsin in 1925. In 1943 he entered the US Navy and served 3 ½ years in the Pacific as a Radioman. Upon discharge from the Navy, he attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
He met Virginia (Gini) Thomas in 1946 and they married in 1948. He graduated in 1950 where he began his career in the financial field in Grand Rapids, Michigan at American Seating. He moved to Beloit, WI to work for the Beloit Corporation in 1964 as Financial V.P. where he stayed until 1971 when he went to work for Combustion Engineering near Hartford, Connecticut. Mr. Adams retired at age 58 and moved to Naples, FL where he has lived ever since.
He loved the game of golf and one of his favorite courses was at the Imperial Golf Club. He was a watch collector and was a proud member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Gini and her beloved extended family; a brother Arnold Adams and a sister-in-law Celia Adams of Ohio. He is also survived my many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 11:30am. Those desiring may make memorial contributions in Richard’s name to the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004 or Avow Hospice, 1095 Whippoorwill Lane, Naples, FL 34105.
