Paul D. Van Stone

He was born July 10th, 1933, in Albion NY, the son of Albert O. and Zella (Robinson) Van Stone.

He was an avid trumpet player and played Taps at funerals as a preteen and teenager for over 50 returning WWII veterans. Paul graduated from Kalamazoo College in Michigan in 1956 with a BA degree in Political Science and Economics, where he also lettered in wrestling, football, and baseball.

Following graduation, he served in the United States Army until 1958. In June of 1958 he married Julia Mae Arnold. They recently celebrated 61 years of marriage.

Paul had been a member of the Collier County Republican Executive Committee over the course of many years volunteering during many elections, the Civil War Round Table, and had previously served on the Collier County School Board.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Stead and daughter, Valerie Lynn Van Stone-Plante.

Survived by wife, Julia Mae (Arnold) Van Stone; sons, Paul Douglas Van Stone II and his wife Denise, of Mound MN, Bradley Alan Van Stone and his wife Lauri of Cave Creek AZ, and daughter, Kimberly Kay Maleike and her husband Cort of West Linn OR; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

A private family ceremony will be held.
