Michael was born in Pittsfield, MA, to William and Gertrude Tully. He attended the College of the Holy Cross, where he played baseball, graduating in 1959. After graduation, Michael joined the U.S. Navy and served his country for two years. He married his beloved wife, Mary Ann, née Griffin, in 1965. Together, they started their life and raised their family in Summit, NJ. Michael spent his professional career in the information technology field, retiring as an executive with a multinational company. He was a member of St. Teresa’s Church in Summit, NJ and St. William Church in Naples, FL.
Michael and Mary Ann spent many years splitting their time between NJ and FL before settling in Naples in 2016. In his free time, he enjoyed going to the beach, playing golf as a member of Canoe Brook Country Club in Summit, and later becoming a social member of Pelican Bay Club; he also loved to travel. Michael had a generous spirit and volunteered at St. John’s Soup Kitchen in Newark, NJ, as well as with Habitat for Humanity in Naples, FL. Above all, he cherished his faith, family and friends and will be deeply missed. He was a true gentleman and a kind-hearted man.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Mary Ann; his daughter, Megan McGarvey (Joseph) of Oceanport, NJ; his son, Patrick Tully of Chatham, NJ; his six wonderful grandchildren, Rogan and Mikaela McGarvey, Charlotte, Griffin, Connor, and Georgia Tully; and his sister, Jean Kaeli. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sheila Tully. Funeral services will be announced in Naples and NJ at a later date.
