Mary Ann Schnelker Roeser

“Mama Bear” passed away quietly Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Avow Hospice in Naples, reassured by her family that final rest was well deserved. She was born in Flint, MI, on November 2, 1925 to Gertrude Wey and Bernon Schnelker and is preceded in death by her son Joel Roeser. A much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend to many, Mary will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Carl J. Roeser, and six children: Susan Roeser, Jeff Roeser (Linda), Barbara Dearholt (John), Julie Stanley (Bart), Pete Roeser (Heidi) and Alan Roeser (Laurel). She also leaves four siblings: Robert Schnelker, Hal Schnelker (Meredith), Jim Schnelker and Julie Brown (Bob), all of Michigan. Thirteen grandchildren will forever remember her kindness, generosity and beautiful spirit. She enjoyed raising her seven beloved children while supporting her husband’s career in the Air Force. Together Mary and Carl started the family business of Naples Pool Service, where she worked in the office part time until her last month. A private family memorial service will be held on Saturday. The family asks that Mary be remembered by donations to Avow Hospice of Naples in lieu of flowers.
