Mary Klauer of Naples, Florida passed away on March 27, 2023. She was born on March 25, 1951 in Mineola, New York. She graduated from Adelphi University and taught high school art. She later attended the John Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University graduating with J.D. She married Dennis Klauer of Cleveland, Ohio in 1982. Mary and Dennis moved to Washington, D.C. where Mary spent 28 years as a contracts attorney for the Department of the Navy. In 2003, the Navy chose Mary as General Counsel for the Navy Facilities and Engineering Command, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. She retired in 2009. The couple returned to Cleveland where Mary volunteered at the Cleveland Food Bank, enjoyed gardening and renewed her passion for watercolor painting. The couple moved to Naples, Florida where Mary won numerous awards for her paintings in juried art shows.
She is survived by her husband Dennis, her step-daughter Jennifer Ference and grandchildren Grace and Michael. She is also survived by her sister Eileen Carey and brothers William and Edward Sullivan. Her brothers Dennis, Lawrence and John passed before her.
A memorial service will be held on April 21, 2023 at 5 p.m. at Hodges Funeral Home, Naples, Florida
