Lisa (DeGrandi) Flippo was born on May 3, 1958, in Alexandria VA. She was the middle daughter of the late Joseph and Yolanda DeGrandi. She attended Marymount Elementary school in Arlington, VA, and then attended high school at Georgetown Visitation in Washington D.C. During those years, she enjoyed horse-back riding and tennis. She went on to attend Agnus Scott College in Atlanta, GA., where she earned bachelor’s degrees in both English and Political Science. She later received a master’s degree in Marketing and Public Relations at George Washington University.
In her professional life, Lisa accomplished many things. She was the Director of Marketing and Founder of the Junior Members of the National Republican Club of Capitol Hill (aka Capitol Hill Club). Lisa was also the Executive Director of the Presidential Roundtable at the National Republican Senatorial Committee, a veteran of the Reagan White House, and worked for the U.S. Department of Commerce.
Lisa was involved in her community and other organizations that were important to her. She was the co-founder of Washington Women and Wine; served on the 1872 Society Committee, raising money for the Alexandria Hospital; served on the Board of Trustees for the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra; and chaired several women’s golf groups in both Virginia and Maryland.
Lisa loved rooting for her favorite Washington sports teams such as the Redskins, Nationals, and the Capitals. She loved watching college sports, specifically the University of Maryland teams. She also enjoyed watching professional golf.
Lisa’s hobbies included playing golf, riding her bike, walking, shopping, traveling, reading, and attending live events, just to name a few. She just loved life. She found enjoyment in just about everything she did. Her constant positive attitude stood out to all those who came in contact with her.
For the past seven years, Lisa fought a tremendous battle against colon cancer. With fierce determination and an unbelievably positive attitude she was able to live life to the fullest. She was valiant and optimistic to the very end.
She is survived by her husband Brian; step-children Sean, Shelly, and Shanna; and grandchildren Jayden, Roman, and Cameron. She is also survived by her older sister and brother-in-law, Térèse and Mike Busch and their children Joseph and Sarah; as well as her younger sister and brother-in-law, Donna DeGrandi and Adam Budish and their children Justin and Alec.
