She was preceded in death by her husband, John, after almost fifty years of marriage.
Lillian was born on November 15, 1926 in Bloomfield, a predominantly Italian neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Many of her fondest memories were growing up with her two brothers, Raymond and Ettore, and her four sisters, Matilda, Geneva, Gilda, and Delores. She had two loving parents, her Mother, Filomena and her Father, Sesti, who was her hero, role model, and a constant source of quotable wisdom throughout her life.
Her lasting legacy is her four children: Judy (Dennis) McCormick, Laurie (Sal) Tommarello, Tom (Chris) DiDonato, and Robert (Audra) DiDonato. Much of their success and character is due to her tenacity, unbounded love, and lifelong support. Always “Nani” to her ten grandchildren, she touched each of them with her love: Noelle, Clare, Michael, Thomas Jr., Philip, Salvatore, Gianna, Anthony, Erica, and Rocco were her pride and joy. She was especially close to Salvatore, Gianna, and Anthony, playing a central role in their lives while they grew up in Pittsburgh. In addition, she was blessed with twelve great grandchildren!
Among her many gifts, she was a world class baker and chef, and her Italian recipes were always the highlight of the holiday season. Her ravioli and biscotti in particular will be talked about around dinner tables for generations to come. She will always be remembered for her insatiable sweet tooth and for her incredible ability to love unconditionally.
