We are sad to announce that Katherine Anne Carter of Naples, FL passed away on May 16, 2023. Katie was born September 27, 1995, at Naples Community Hospital downtown location, one of the last babies born there before they relocated the birthing center to North Naples. Katie was a ham from an early age, performing songs for her family and posing for the camera. She enjoyed the beach and had many a grand birthday at the Edgewater Beach Hotel. Katie attended school at the big three in Naples, that being Lake Park Elementary, Gulfview Middle School, and Naples High School. She had many friends, and a weekend never went by that she didn't have big plans.
Katie always showed a remarkable talent and creativity in drawing. She regularly sat and doodled sketches of various objects. She hoped one day to work as an animator for someplace like Disney, but those plans were cut short. Nevertheless, she never quit holding out hope for a better future for herself, despite considerable tragedies in her life. Katie was an outdoor girl and learned to surf at Cocoa Beach, Florida. She also learned to scuba dive in Key Largo.
She went with her dad to Walt Disney World more times than they could count. She also enjoyed the mountains of North Carolina and visiting her maternal grandmother at her beach house on the coast of Carolina. She had a special bond with her grandma Kathleen, her namesake. They would sit and talk for hours on end. Katie also enjoyed boating with her mom from Isle of Capri and soaked up the sun whenever possible. In fact, the perfect day for Kate was one spent on the beach.
Katie is survived by her mother, Angie (Mark) Nourse, father, Christopher Carter, sisters, Brittney (Matthew) Kirkwood, Taylor Nourse, nephew, James Kirkwood, niece, Lily Kirkwood, grandfather, Ralph Carter and grandmother, Doris Schneider, all of Naples, as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Katie was proceeded in death her Grandmother Kathleen Hagerman.
