John B. (Jack) MacDonald, M.D. of Bonita Springs, Florida and Lincoln, New Hampshire passed away on April 1, 2015, at the age of 92. He was born in Sydney Nova Scotia on June 11, 1922. He served as a bomber pilot in WWII with the Royal Canadian Air Force. After the War, he graduated from McGill Medical School in Montreal Quebec. He fell in love with and was fortunate to marry Joan Vera Chappell in 1946 with whom he had nine children. She died suddenly in October 2005, after enjoying fifty-nine years of marriage with Jack.
Jack began his medical practice in Lincoln, New Hampshire as a General Practitioner and later specialized in radiology and practiced in Winchester, Massachusetts. He retired from medicine at age 65.
Jack was an avid skier, tennis player, golfer and cyclist. He shared his love for these and other pursuits with his family and often went on skiing, bicycling, canoe, and hiking trips with a number of his children. Jack always impressed upon his children that any job should have your best efforts. Fortune again smiled on Jack when he met Priscilla Hurlin who became his loving companion for nine years until his death. Jack is survived by all of his children: Joel MacDonald, Shane MacDonald, Louise Macdonald, Denise Macdonald, Thare Macdonald, Patrice Barklund, Lisa Ontiveros, Seth MacDonald, and Ian Macdonald. He is survived, as well, by fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also, he is survived by three of his eight siblings, all of whom reside in Canada: Olga MacCormick, Adelaide Taylor and Sr. Eileen MacDonald. His other siblings were: Earl MacDonald, Paul MacDonald, Douglas MacDonald, Ronald MacDonald, Geraldine Gouthro, and Patricia Wells.
A Funeral Service will be held for John Bernard Macdonald at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens (525 111th Avenue North, Naples, Florida 34108) on Saturday May 9th at 4:00pm.
