Jeanne Fitzmaurice Petras passed away peacefully on Monday, October 15, 2018 at Juniper Village in Naples, Florida, at the age of 64, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Jeanne Fitzmaurice of Syracuse, New York. She is survived by her husband Paul Petras of Naples, Florida, sons Brian Petras of Annapolis, Maryland and Daniel Petras of Naples, Florida, and sisters Ellen Streiner of Monroeville, Pennsylvania, Sheila and Kathleen Fitzmaurice of Baldwinsville, New York, and Terri Jupena of Greensburg, Pennsylvania.
Jeanne graduated Magna Cum Laude from Le Moyne College in Syracuse, New York. After a business career in contract administration and procurement with Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, Parsons-Brinkerhoff in Atlanta, COMSAT in Washington, D.C., and Southern New England Telephone (Lightnet) in New Haven, Connecticut, she became a Special Education Aide in Madison, Connecticut public schools, which enabled her to "give back" and be at home with her boys.
Jeanne was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed spending time with her family at "The Cottage" at Sandy Pond, New York off Lake Ontario. She was a happy and fun loving person who enjoyed a glass of wine and chocolate chip cookies. Jeanne was a caring and thoughtful person, who loved helping people without expecting anything in return. Her selflessness was further exemplified through teaching religion for many years at St. George's Catholic Church in Guilford, Connecticut, by volunteering at many school functions and by serving as Co-President of the PTO in Madison, Connecticut.
Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens 525-111th Ave N, Naples, Florida, 34108. Internment to follow immediately at Palm Royale Cemetery 6780 Vanderbilt Beach Rd, Naples, Florida 34119.
