Janice C. Rushalk

Janice Carol Rushalk, 73, Naples FL, went to be with the Lord on October 28, 2012. Her passing, of natural causes, was sudden and unexpected. She was born in Suffern, NY on January 31, 1939.She was the only child of the late Richard H. and Velma M. (Furman) Becraft. Janice graduated from Suffern High School class of 1956 and completed secretarial school in Ridgewood, NJ.

She began working at the original Suffern National Bank until her marriage to Paul M. Rushalk of Sloatsburg, NY on October 16, 1960. She followed Paul in his USAF assignments to Wichita, KS, Columbus, OH (where her children were born), Roswell, NM, and Plattsburg, NY. After leaving the Air Force they resided in Sloatsburg, NY for many years before moving to Suffern, NY and eventually retiring in Naples, FL.

In addition to being a full time homemaker, she worked for and retired from HSBC banking in Sloatsburg as teller and assistant manager. She was also very active in the Sloatsburg United Methodist Church serving for 12 years as financial secretary.

Janice was an avid reader and had enjoyed knitting and sewing.

She also loved to travel and especially loved Hawaii having once considered retiring there.

She had been active in North Naples United Methodist Church and looked forward to the weekly meetings of the Grace Class Bible study group.

Janice is survived by her husband Paul of Naples, her two children: Michael Rushalk (Kathy) of Marco Island, FL; Elaine Howes (Kevin) of Oakland, NJ; and the lights of her life her four grandchildren, Micaela, Makenna, and Mikah Rushalk of Columbus, IN and Paul Howes of Oakland, NJ. She also leaves an aunt and uncle and several cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Naples UMC chapel with internment of ashes to follow in the church's columbarium. Please join the family for a light luncheon immediately after in Founder's hall.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to either Sloatsburg UMC or North Naples UMC missions or to the charity of your choice.
