Irene Cole Jones, 94, a long time Naples resident passed away on Tuesday, September 6th. Irene attended Stephens College and graduated from the University of Kentucky before becoming a sixth grade teacher in Harlan, KY.
She loved her dogs, the mountains and playing golf. Irene was one of the original members of the Naples Players, Naples Beach Club, and Royal Poinciana. Her generous nature was evident as she helped raise money to start Naples Community Hospital and coordinate a golf tournament in Lake Toxaway, NC which was named after her and benefited the local hospital.
Irene was preceded in death by her husband, David C. Jones, Jr. and is survived by her son, Crockett Jones and her granddaughter, Paula Woulas (Jason).
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 9, 2016 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens. Her funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 am at Hodges Funeral Home.
