Frank was born in Springfield, Mass. On April 6, 1932, the Son of Frank Lewis Winn, Jr. and Ida Flamand Winn.
He is survived by his Wife, Margaret (Steele) Winn, Son, James F. Winn & his wife Anne of Harwich, MA as well as his Son, Thomas F. Winn of South Dennis, MA, his youngest Sister, Beverly A. Pearsall of Sun City, AZ, his Grandson, Thomas F. Winn Jr., his Great-Grandson, Levi Matthew and his Sister-in law, Jeannette Winn, as well as many Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
Frank is predeceased by his Parents, younger Brother, Robert Ellsworth Winn, his older Sister, Pauline Gaudette Cormier and his younger Sister, Elaine Cimino.
Frank coached a teenage hockey team for the Holy Name Coaches Club. He also was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scout summer camp program filling in for the fathers who could not attend with their sons. Frank became a Springfield Firefighter & Retired in 1985. During his 30+ of retirement, he played on shuffleboard teams, enjoyed swimming and boating. Neighbors who lived alone could count on Frank to check during their final illness. He enjoyed the companionship of his Sons and Grandson. He will be missed by many of his friends and family members.
Frank’s Family would like to thank Avow Hospice for their great kindness and care, the nurses and staff at Solaris Healthcare Facility and many friends who gave of their time visiting him for the months he was confined in a local nursing facility after becoming a paraplegic.
Frank and Peg celebrated their 60 year anniversary on Thanksgiving Day, 2015. They were members of the same first grade at Holy Name Grammar School in Springfield; their pictures appeared in First Communion and Confirmation Classes.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church at 10AM on Wednesday, June 1, 2016.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to either Avow Hospice or Saint John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
