Frank was born in Mount Vernon, NY to Ralph and Phyllis Bonvino on November 23, 1941. He graduated from Pelham HS where he was named to the All-County football team and was later offered a minor league MLB contract with the Boston Red Sox. He opted instead to attend college where he met Margo Russ, the love of his life and wife for over 60 years. They married on August 31, 1963, in Libertyville, IL. He graduated from Coe College, where he served as President of the Phi Kappa Tau fraternity. Upon graduation, he attended Law School at the University of MN and later, William Mitchell College of Law. He worked as an attorney and served as General Counsel for the International Multifoods Corporation. He received numerous awards as an attorney and took great pride in mentoring young professionals. He was also active in coaching baseball and touched the lives and helped the careers of many young athletes in his adopted home of Edina, MN where he lived from 1973-2004.
Frank is preceded in death by his father Ralph and mother Phyllis.
He is survived by his wife: Margo; children: Chris (Trudy) and Tracy Black (Rob); grandchildren: Alexandra, Matthew, Ava and Sophia; and great grandchildren: Elouise and James.
His funeral will be at the Church of St. Patrick in Edina, MN at a date yet to be determined.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful and caring nurses: Carolyn, Sue and Viva and the rest of the outstanding people at Naples Community Hospital as well as the community of families and friends at the Wilderness Golf Community, where Frank served as president and has resided for the past 20 years. Their love and kindness has been overwhelming.
In lieu of flowers or financial contributions we ask that in Frank’s memory, each of you mentors and helps someone who is young. Just as Frank did throughout his life. This is the greatest gift one can give.
