Donald Simpson McLean, loving father of June (Robert) Gregory, passed away on November 26, 2021 in Naples, FL at the age of 93.
He was born in Chicago, IL to the late Donald and Ethel McLean and grew up on the North Side of the city. He graduated from Amundsen High School in 1946 at which time he worked in the family’s candy business, A. McLean & Son. In 1959, after marrying his beloved wife Elsa, he moved to the suburb of Glenview, IL where he resided for over 50 years. After retiring from Signode/ITW, Don and Elsa moved to Naples to enjoy the warm, sunny weather.
Don was a kind, loving and generous man who had a quiet strength. He loved dining out, travel, playing golf and bowling. He especially enjoyed many years of playing golf in the Men’s League at Buffalo Grove Golf Course and he was a longtime member of NIMAGA (Northern Illinois Men’s Amateur Golf Association).
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elsa McLean, and his brother, Gordon McLean. He is survived by his dear nieces and nephews.
Don will be lovingly remembered and missed by his family and all who knew him.
