Carmine was born in 1940 to Joseph and Nancy Errico. The oldest of 5 children, Carmine was raised in Short Hills NJ, and graduated from Seton Hall University at age 19. He went on to Medical School at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He later returned to NJ where he practiced medicine as an Obstetrician and Gynecologist for more than 40 years. During the course of his career Carmine was a managing partner of one of the largest OB/GYN practices in central NJ, was the Chief of Staff at Somerset Medical Center, and delivered many thousands of babies while providing comprehensive medical care to the women of Somerset, Hunterdon, and Middlesex counties. Upon his retirement at age 70, Carmine established permanent residency in Naples FL where he continued to serve the community as a physician volunteer with Neighborhood Health Clinic.
Carmine was known as a loyal friend, a dedicated physician, and a pillar of the community. He was a member of the Board of Governors at Georgetown University and an officer on the Executive Committee of the Naples Italian American Foundation. Carmine loved to sail, and enjoyed trips with friends and family along coastal New England, on the Chesapeake Bay, and in the Caribbean. He was an avid college basketball fan, rooting for Duke University’s Blue Devils for more than 30 years.
Carmine is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lyn, his older daughter Jan, her husband Tim, and their children Jimmy and Emily, by his younger daughter Elizabeth, her husband Adam, and their children Evelyn and Andy. He is also survived by three of his four siblings, Antoinette, Gloria, and Tom. A memorial service will be held in Naples FL in January 2023. In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions be made to the Children’s Mental Health Resource Center (www.cmhrc.org).
