Beverly Todd Bernstrom passed away peacefully on September 3, 2021, at Bayshore Memory Care in Naples, Florida, following a battle with Alzheimer’s. Her daughters Kimberly and Maurine and her special one Pete were nearby.
Beverly was born in Richmond, Kentucky on April 25, 1936. She was the younger daughter of Maurine and Russell Todd who preceded her in death along with her sister, Camille Todd Murray, and former husband, Richard Bernstrom. She lived in Richmond the majority of her life before moving to Naples in the early 90’s. She loved the sunshine and warm weather of Florida, enjoying all it had to offer. Beverly graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in education. She was active in the hospital auxiliary and was honored for her involvement with the PACHA Charity Ball. She was an active member of First Christian Church while in Kentucky and Naples United Church of Christ in Naples. The consummate entertainer both in Naples and Richmond, Beverly loved hosting parties and bringing friends/family together to celebrate holidays, birthdays and life. She also had a flair for and love of decorating homes. Beverly’s previous modeling days in New York ingrained in her a great sense of style and fashion her entire life.
A devoted dog lover, Beverly was an avid supporter of Humane Society Naples and more importantly her furry little dachshund sidekicks Precious and Angel. Sleepovers in Richmond and trips to Florida from her granddaughters to spend time with ”B” were a treat for all. These usually involved shopping, games and beach/ pool time, making each feel special. One of Beverly’s greatest blessings was the day Pete came into her life 11 years ago. They shared a mutual zest for living life to the fullest with travel, adventure, companionship and fun. Her daughters are beyond grateful for Pete’s unfailing love, care and support of their mother, especially over the past year. Kimberly and Maurine have been abundantly blessed with a beautiful family legacy and the love and support from their mother throughout her life.
Beverly is survived by her devoted daughters, Kimberly Stigers (David) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Maurine Hawkins (Kent) of Newport Coast, California; three granddaughters, Natalie Stigers, Lauren Stigers and Megan Hawkins; several cherished nieces, and her special one, Pete Merkel.
A private celebration of life service will be held by the family.
