Born November 6, 1927 in Nanaimo BC, where except for a couple of years in Victoria, Bill lived most of his life. He was the General Manager of Fletcher’s Furniture for 45 years and a familiar face in downtown Nanaimo.
Bill shared a rich social life with a large group of close friends. He was a member of the Lions Club in his younger years, then the Gyro Club, where he is a Past President, and he was a longtime member of the Masonic Lodge.
Bill was a Club Champion of the Nanaimo Curling Club in its last year of the original building (1970), and he was actively involved in the Nanaimo Yacht Club and the Nanaimo Power Squadron. He enjoyed his boating, fishing, golfing and walks around the city.
Bill is predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Anne (nee Fletcher), and seven brothers and sisters. He is survived by his three children, Doug (Cindy), Jan (Ron) and Phil (Carol). He also has four grandchildren, Christie MacDonald, Brooke Jarvie, Alex Huston and Cole Jarvie as well as eight great grandchildren.
With respect to Bill’s wishes, there will not be a formal service.
