I met Robert at Massage Therapy school in Victoria.  Returning to school in my 40’s was challenging but Robert was such an inspiration to me.  He would commute daily from up-island and spend long hours at the school.  He was encouraging and helpful to many of us, giving his time to help us learn.  I was so impressed by his calm and thoughtful demeanour, he never let anything get under his skin.  After school, I visited him at his studio in Parksville, where he was doing some reno’s and making it into a warm and inviting space.  He was so excited about his practice and the opportunity to help people. 

My deepest and most sincere condolences are with his family at this time.  He leaves a beautiful mark on all of us and I feel lucky to have known him.

We never know how long the journey will be, nor how far it might take us, nor how it will bend us.  

Robert, Thank you for showing us how to live well, reach far and that every bend is worth the stretch on the path to get to where we are going.

We were in the same year at Kennedy high school.  He taught me to drive stick in a Hyundai Pony! There were many classes but I mostly recall music & band.  Rob played tuba & sat next to us trumpets.  We would get caught goofing off and he would automatically get punished along with us.  He was usually innocent and confused, lol! 


I first met Robert through basic training  when we joined the Canadian Navy in 1987. We were best of friends from that day onward and I will dearly miss our yearly get togethers  in Edmonton and the laughter filled conversations on the phone. We had way too many of those conversations left, but someday we will resume them once again. He was the best friend you could ever ask for, and I will miss him dearly!

Robert was always helpful with my health related issues and always encouraged me to keep up with yoga.
I met Robert through our Business Networking Group and thoroughly enjoyed listening to his memories of the recent trip he and Laura took to India.
May Robert's spirit find as much joy in it's journey as he found in life.

I met Robert at the west coast college of massage therapy.  He generously would donate his time helping us on his lunch break and after school. He’d let me photocopy his notes. I remember his calm demeanour. He was always very patient and passionate about helping others. I was in shock to hear about his passing. He was a good man. 
Sending healing vibes out his his family and friends during this difficult time.  

May God give you and the family much strength and peace during this sorrowful time. We were so saddened to hear of Robert's untimely passing, but we will keep the wonderful memories of him in our hearts. We were privileged to get to experience his kind and adventurous spirit hiking together in the hills above O'ahu's North Shore many years ago. Heaven is now welcoming you with open arms, Robert. Wishing you much love and aloha.

I enjoyed having thought provoking conversations with Robert in the hallways of the clinic as a former colleague. His love of learning and helping people was evident and he was simply a kind-hearted man.  He certainly left too soon but I am thankful for the moments shared. 


I am so crushed to hear of his passing at such a young age. You were a wonderful RMT and colleague. I loved hearing of your trips to Tibet, yoga, the language and your desire to develop further in your spiritual quest.  My heart goes out to Laura and his sons.  ❤️

Robert was such an incredible friend, massage therapist and human being. I had the pleasure of meeting him in massage therapy college, where he would dedicate countless lunch hours tutoring all of us newbies. He was an incredibly skilled RMT, and I was lucky enough to do a continuing education course with him a few years ago on salt spring island. We spent a week learning yoga and anatomy and I vividly remember he kept speaking about his sons and how proud he was of them. I will cherish our memories, and send my love to his family at this heavy time. Rest In Peace Robert xx

Robert was one of the most interesting and kind-hearted people I have met. I met Robert through a local networking group and he noticed that I was in a lot of pain from a recent shoulder injury when I used to play Football.  Immediately he took a look at it and told me he thought that my collar bone was dislocated. He could have given me a business card and sent me on my way, but he insisted that I come to his home and he will fix it for free. Not only did he fix my shoulder issue but we were able to sit and talk about his life and passions. The world needs more Roberts, he will be missed.
