Michael was born in Prince Rupert on April 5, 1938 and grew up in West Vancouver, B.C. After graduation from UBC, Michael taught school in Quesnel and Nanaimo, retiring in 1997. He taught English and Social Studies for many years at Woodlands School and most recently was the librarian at NDSS and Ladysmith. In his retirement he was a cruiser, a gardener, and a reader.
Pre-deceased by his parents Ruth and Bill, as well as his brother Dale (Beverley), he leaves behind his wife Diane, sons Brian and his wife Lori Jones and Doug and his wife Christine. The lights of his life were his grandchildren Sophia, Isabella, Wyatt, and Logan.
His nephews Roy, Gerry, and David along with niece Shari also share happy memories of Uncle Mike.
At Mike’s request, there will be no service. Donations to the Nanaimo Hospital Foundation would be welcomed.
The family is grateful to the kindnesses shown during this time by the staff in Complex Care at Wexford Manor.
