Leigh passed away suddenly and unexpectedly of a heart attack on December 18th. Despite the efforts of those who tried so hard, they could not save him.
Leigh leaves his wife Robin and his daughter Rene (Ross) who loved him so very, very much. Brother Steve (Charrise), cousins Arlene (Rick) and John (Dale), and his Aunt Edith all had a special place in his heart, as did his other relatives and his many close friends and wonderful neighbours.
His career as a B.C. Land Surveyor and Canada Land Surveyor was full and varied and professionalism, integrity and dedication was beyond reproach. The Westmin Mine mineral survey that he worked on from 1985 to 1987 was the fuel for numerous stories hilariously retold. It was there that he became part mountain goat.
His love of motorcycles and guitars was legendary and cannot go unmentioned. It was search, find, buy, sell, repeat – until he finally he got the ones that he wanted to keep. His accumulation of both over the years was vast – and his ultimate collection was perfect.
And though there were many winter getaways to sunny places and numerous camping trips, he was the happiest when we were at home in the house that he built, by the lake that he loved, with a guitar on his lap and his dog close by.
He was simply the best.
When it’s a little easier to smile, we’ll get together on Saturday, May 4th @ 1:00pm at Kiwi Cove Lodge in Ladysmith to “Remember Leigh” at his finest, funniest, most brilliant and however else you want to remember him. Share a memory or two. Stanfields optional.
